Baseball HOF

Congrats to Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn on their election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Wally is a strong supporter of Jim Rice and thinks he should make it in the next few years. Was there a better hitter in the late 70's? (Don't say Pete Rose. Please. It's not even close. Look it up.) It's surprising to see how few votes Mark McGuire received, but he was a one-dimensional player in a suspect era.

The Times must read Wally's blog, as there was an article this week question (that the Wal-man can't seem to locate right now) exactly what's going on with JD Drew, who has apparently not passed his physical with the Red Sox. Wally doesn't think Trot has signed with another team.

Best sports movie ever?

No, you're not going to get a Bill Simmons-esque post. This isn't ESPN. Wally doesn't have that kind of time.

The Natural - best sports movie of all time. Name Wally a better one.

Happy New Year!

Wally's back. His co-benefactor has been busy with work and all that holiday jazz, but Wally is trying to get him to start posting again. Wally's also been boning up on his Japanese for "Dice-K"'s debut.

JD Drew????? Ugh. We miss Trot already.

Loved to see the Yankees admit that the Big Unit experiment was a failure.

Spring training games start 2/28.
